'Curiouser and Curiouser' - Shana James

Curiouser and Curiouser - Artist Statement

In my artwork I use the story of Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll as a critical lens to explore ideas around choice, desire and agency. First published in 1865 Alice in Wonderland is a complex and nuanced understanding of an individual navigating a strange world that present day readers still connect to. Using elements from the story as metaphors, I have created artworks that explore aspects of contemporary life and personal growth.
