Sailing to Ithaca
After years of war and enchantment on Circe's island, Odysseus sails home to Ithaca, yearning for peace and belonging. But upon arrival, he finds only emptiness—home is not what he imagined.
This monoprint explores the endless search for an ideal, a place of contentment that exists only within ourselves, never in any destination we reach. The high horizon line emphasises the vast ocean against the small boat, reflecting the scale and difficulty of the journey, while gestural clouds and rhythmic marks in the water communicate the continuous change of constant transformation.
