JARRAD MARTYN (VIC) - I Love a Sunburnt Country
|oil on board
|24 x 28cm
I Love a Sunburnt Country responds to extreme weather events experienced inAustralia over the last decade. A field of burnt sienna surrounds two firefighters, depicted in an ambiguous and almost universal space, shifting between water and sand. Contemplatively, they look towards a horizon that lacks a sun, replaced by a partial graphic from weather forecast patterns. By mixing real and imagined realities and environments, I Love a Sunburnt Country symbolises the anxieties, unease, and indecision felt towards climate change and the politics surrounding it.
