LINDSAY HARRIS - Knowing Your Place #1
resin, pigment & binder on hemp 2012, 195 x 136cm
After being served food, then being refused seating in the local cafe at Quarading, my grandmother and I sat next to the railway line and ate our meal. At the time Noongar people were still considered flora and fauna by the government. The railway line may be thought of as a ladder. In a lot of cases climbing this ladder and improving one's life would be a constant struggle for most Noongar people.
